Role: Operations IT Specialist
Location: Aberdeen, MD / Remote
Education/Certifications: BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, IT
Years of Experience: 10+ years professional IT experience; 5+ years’ experience with operations coordination support for mainframe applications
Clearance Level & Investigation: Tier 3 or equivalent (ADP/IT-II)
IT Level (AR 25-2): IT-II or NACLC
IA Cert Level (DoD 8570.01): IAT Level II
Computing Environment Certifications: Relevant certification from nationally recognized authority (preferred)
Job Description:
- Responsible for monitoring MOCAS to ensure optimal performance and availability.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including software updates, hardware checks, and system diagnostics.
- Identify and resolve system issues proactively to minimize downtime and disruptions.
- Respond to IT incidents and service requests in timely manner.
- Diagnose & troubleshoot technical issues related to performance and system availability.
- Escalate complex issues to higher-level support teams when necessary.
- Ensure proper configuration and operation of MOCAS to meet organizational needs.
- Collaborate with DISA SMEs to address infrastructure challenges.
- Manage day-to-day IT operations, including system backups, patch management, performance monitoring, running cycles and batch processes.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with implementation of operational procedures to improve efficiency and reliability.
Required Minimum Education:
- BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, IT, or closely related discipline.
Required Minimum Experience:
- 10+ years of overall professional experience in IT or related field; 5+ years’ experience with operations coordination support for mainframe applications.
- Must have knowledge & expertise in the following: experience working in mainframe environments (ex. Running cycles and Batch processing); System monitoring and maintenance; Incident Management and Troubleshooting; Infrastructure Support; Operations Management; Security and Compliance; Documenting Operations Processes; Disaster recovery and business continuity.
Required Clearance:
- Must possess IT-II security clearance or have a current National Agency Check with Local Agency Check and Credit Check (NACLC).
Certifications:
- Relevant certification from a nationally recognized technical authority preferred.
- DoW Approved 8570 Baseline Certification: Category IAT Level II.
