MDA SHIELD

SHIELD is MDA’s flagship multiple-award, indefinite-deliver/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) vehicle designed to accelerate the development and deployment of next-generation missile defense capabilities. With a ceiling value of up to $151 billion, SHIELD enables MDA and other DoD organizations to rapidly issue task orders under a single, flexible enterprise contract, streamlining acquisition and reducing procurement timelines. The contract supports a wide range of mission areas, from research, development, and prototyping to production, integration, and sustainment, focused on delivering a multi-domain, layered defense architecture that can detect, track, and defeat advanced threats, including ballistic, hypersonic, and cruise missiles. Emphasizing innovation and speed, SHIELD integrates technologies such as artificial intelligence, digital engineering, and open systems design to ensure the U.S. and its allies maintain a resilient and adaptive defense posture.
