The Voice Engineer Lead is responsible for managing all call routing and set up from DISA Tier 0 hierarchy down to individual strategic sites. This role oversees the team that plans, implements, and manages theater voice architecture to include: upgrades to Gatekeepers, Voice Gateway Routers (VGR), Cisco Unified Call Managers (CUCM), and VoIP/VoSIP firmware across strategic network. In addition, the team manages traditional Defense Switched Network (DSN) network that provides traditional voice T-1 and SIP trunks terminating at Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) switches, North Atlantic Treaty Organization Private Branch Exchange (NATO PBXs), and Internet Gateway Exchange (IGX) Commercial providers.
Qualifications:
The Voice Engineer Lead must maintain the following minimum qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a strategic DoD position engineering I.T. solutions for NIPRNET, SIPRNET, and CPN-X (or other Coalition network environments).
- DoD 8570.01 M compliance for IAT Level III with a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Collaboration certification or higher.
- Secret clearance
- Bachelor’s Degree required – may substitute additional years of experience in lieu of advanced degree
- Additional 4 years of experience with Associate’s Degree
- Additional 8 years of experience with High School Diploma
Responsibilities:
- Provide secure and non-secure voice system/network engineering, integration, and installation services.
- Provide engineering services for installation and upgrading of voice and data systems/networks.
- Coordinate with other stakeholders operating in CENTCOM AOR on behalf of Government to manage implementation processes as applicable to VoIP, VoSIP, and POTS, and document and support engineering transition from traditional switches POTS to VoIP and VoSIP.
- Provide engineering expertise in meeting and sustaining requirements for installation, operation, maintenance, and protection (IOMP) of voice systems/networks.
- Support network surveys, analyze collected data, and perform necessary calculations to make technical recommendations for Command, Control, Communications, and Computers Enterprise Information Programs (C4 EIPs.)
- Provide engineering technical expertise on secure and non-secure voice and data systems at meetings.
- Provide engineering expertise to design solutions that support and improve existing requirements to install, operate, maintain, and protect voice systems/networks.
- Provide information on emerging technologies affecting voice/data architecture.
- Manage all network hardware in use.
- Support Voice Systems/Networks Engineering Deliverables.
