We are thrilled to announce that as of May 2024, our very own Business Development Manager, Lauren Beward has taken over as President of the AFCEA Aberdeen Chapter for the next two years! This prestigious role marks a significant milestone in her already remarkable journey with AFCEA. As someone who has dedicated over 6 years of leadership to Bravura, we are proud to highlight her achievement.

Reflecting on an Incredible Journey

Lauren Beward’s association with AFCEA began eight years ago when she attended her first event, the 2016 Young AFCEAN Mentor/Protégé Networking Night. Working in Reston at the time, her manager encouraged her to explore the local chapter, which led her to her start with the organization. What started as an unfamiliar experience soon turned into a pivotal moment in her career. “I walked in knowing nobody,” she recalls, “but little did I know that I was walking out with a new family.”

A Legacy of Leadership and Dedication

Over the years, Lauren Beward has held various significant roles within the chapter. From being an event volunteer to serving as VP of Publicity, VP of Emerging Leaders, and Executive Vice President, she has continuously contributed to the chapter’s growth and success. Her dedication extended to supporting fundraising efforts, sustaining existing events, and creating new programs with her fellow EXCOM members.

Her leadership shone particularly during challenging times. She played a crucial role in helping the chapter navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring that programming remained relevant and impactful. Her involvement with the International organization, including Women in AFCEA and the Small Business council, has also been notable. Along the way, she has received numerous awards and recognitions, expanded her network, and forged countless friendships.

Looking Ahead: A Vision for the Future

Now, as she takes on the role of President, Lauren Beward is ready to build on the successes of her predecessors and continue shaping AFCEA Aberdeen into a Model Chapter. She is eager to continue supporting the community at APG and believes that with her exceptional EXCOM team, they will achieve great things together.

“To everyone who has helped guide me along the way—whether through your wisdom and leadership, your friendly welcome, or your hard work and support to AFCEA—thank you,” she expressed. “This organization is what it is because of the amazing members who support each other, lift each other up, and give so much of themselves to a volunteer role.”
