BALTIMORE, MD — On Thursday, December 4, Bravura, Inc. served as one of 100 organizations participating in the Young Men United Career & Information Fair, hosted by United Way of Central Maryland. In recognition of UWCM’s 100 years of service in Central Maryland, this event gave 100 young men (grades 10 through 12) the opportunity to meet with these companies to discuss potential post-secondary pathways.

The students participating in this event are members of “Young Men United”, a long-term support program working to break down barriers for young men of color in Greater Baltimore. Since launching in Fall 2022, Young Men United has provided holistic support and resources to students and their families in the form of:

  • Exposure to various industries, career paths, and post-secondary educations through guest speakers and field trips.
  • College and career guidance through academic program research, application support, and financial aid guidance.
  • Multi-generational support for students and families through financial assistance, resource navigation, and financial literacy coaching.
  • Connection to critical support resources like housing, food, and mental health support.
  • Removal of barriers through stipends, technology access, and transportation assistance.
  • Career pursuit through job shadowing, paid internships, and interview and resume preparation.
  • Access to training and certification programs and trade education opportunities.
  • Academic support like technology resources and training.
  • Mentorships, internships, job shadowing, and paid, part-time employment.

The goal of Young Men United is to help these students successfully navigate their journey as they transition out of high school, into college or job training, and on to a full-time career aligned with their dreams and goals.

“Bravura is passionate about inspiring the next generation of leaders in our industry and throughout our community,” said Ms. Claudine Adams, Bravura President & CEO. “We are so honored to be a part of this incredible initiative by UWCM. Opportunity shouldn’t depend on someone’s zip code. This event helps level the playing field and create equitable access to a future that offers stability, growth, and purpose.”

Bravura representatives Lauren Beward, Director of Business Development, and Derrick Bonney, Human Resources Manager, spent the day engaging with students to discuss their interests, inspire them with advice on how to pursue a career in technology, and encourage them to pursue their passions.

Thank you, UWCM, for inviting Bravura to support this wonderful cause!
