On
May 26, 2019, The Harford County Chamber of Commerce hosted its 42nd
annual Military Appreciation Luncheon. The Freedom Federal Credit Union partnered
with the Richlin Catering & Events Center to celebrate the strong
relationship built between the community and the US Military forces.
Notable
names in the community were in attendance like, Major General Randy S. Taylor,
the US Army Communications-Electronics (CECO) Commander, and guest speaker General
Carter F. Ham, President and CEO of the Association of the Association of the
United States Army; a nonprofit organization that supports the families of active,
retired, and reserve soldiers.
Being
that AGP plays a major role not only in the military, but also within the
community, the event was open to all. Bravura team members and other attendees were
served a catered meal and light refreshments as recognition of the ‘Family of
the Year,’ ‘Veteran Scholarship,’ and ‘General Appel Award’ were all presented.
There was also a special tribute to the “Gold Star Mothers,” a group of women
who’ve lost a child during active military service.
Events
like this help bridge the gap between civilian and service life, and help remind
everyone that we each play a vital part in maintaining a healthy community…“It allows people to get to know each other, thank
those who serve and understand their motivations and what they need from the
community,” said Sue Manning, the co-chair of the chamber’s military
affairs committee.
