The Aerostat Electronic Systems Field Service Representative (FSR) function is part of a specialized team providing critical support of aerostat flight operations. The Platform FSR conducts troubleshooting of electronic equipment and operational issues as well as specialized maintenance activities at all sites and hubs. The Platform FSR recommends actions and solutions and acts as the local on-site specialist of the aerostat and mooring systems and performs other duties as assigned.
The physical demands of this position and the operational requirements of the equipment can be substantial. Position often requires working in extreme temperatures, at heights greater than 15 feet, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, and working in confined spaces while wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Prior to travel into theater, individuals must attend the U.S. Army CONUS Replacement Center (CRC) and successfully complete customer required pre-deployment physical and dental exams (USCENTCOM MOD 13 w/Tab A) (final medical deployment eligibility determination lies with the clinician providers assigned to the deployment center).
Individuals will perform duties while living in austere environments. Work shifts and hours will be determined by mission requirements. Management reserves the right to transfer employees between work locations CONUS and OCONUS as needed to meet mission requirements.
Total compensation may vary upon rotation assignment.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of prior relevant experience or Minimum 8 years of experience is allowed, in lieu of a degree.
Possesses expert system and/or component knowledge. Must have a minimum of 24 months hands-on aerostat operational and maintenance (O&M) experience.
Experience leading inflation/deflation of aerostats.
Experience with aerostat tether termination.
Experience supervising aerostat launch, recovery and flight of the aerostat and its related systems.
Experience in tear down and setup of aerostat operational sites.
Proficiency in the following areas of aerostat operations and troubleshooting:
• Flight
• Weather
• Pressurization
• Rigging
• Helium loading
O&M knowledge of acoustic and seismic ground sensors.
Knowledgeable of aerostat repair techniques.
Knowledgeable of record keeping requirements.
Familiar with Electrostatic Discharge (ESD).
O&M experience with Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR).
O&M experience with EO/IR gimbaled camera systems.
O&M of electronic equipment to include one or more of the following:
• Video distribution systems
• Navigation systems
• Avionics systems
• Radio communications equipment
• RF telemetry systems and payload communications
• Fiber optic transmission systems (analysis, splicing, termination, testing)
• Electrical and serial data cable terminations
Ability to operate and interpret test measurement and diagnostics equipment (TMDE).
Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and wiring diagrams.
Proficient in computer application software operations to include, but not limited to, the MS Office Suite and all common Windows OS.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Current or active DoD Secret clearance is required.
Ability to pass a pre-deployment physical exam and dental exam
Desired Skills:
Cisco certified; CompTIA certified; ITIL certified; Microsoft certified; CISSP, and/or Civilian/Military Equivalent.
Experience with compressed gas systems.
Experience with AC/DC electrical systems maintenance and repair.
Experience/certifications (IPC/MILSTD) in lead soldering techniques.
Working knowledge of Ethernet and IP-based data transport and computer network systems.
Familiarity with military operations, acronyms, and military chain of command.
Ability to read mechanical systems schematics, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
O&M of mechanical equipment to include one or more of the following:
• Hydraulic systems
• Industrial generator sets
• Tether/cable handling systems
• High lift vehicles
• Forklifts
• Industrial generator sets
